A steel backcan housing a loudspeaker assembly is suspended independently from the rigid overhead structure rather than the ceiling framing. The assembly is supported by one center wire and a minimum of two twelve-gauge wires splayed at forty-five degrees. Each support wire attaches to the overhead deck using a two-inch by two-inch by eight-gauge bent plate fastened with two number-ten sheet metal screws in each flute. The roughly ten-pound speaker unit passes through the finished ceiling and finishes flush with a perforated grill.
