A secondary steel beam connects to a primary supporting steel beam through a single-plate shear tab welded to the web. The connection is secured with bolts sized per note three through the shear tab and supported beam web. A three-eighths-inch full-height stiffener plate with a minimum width matching the beam flange is welded to the web and flanges using quarter-inch fillet welds on two or three sides as specified. Weld backup plates are included in the assembly but omitted from the drawing view for clarity.
