A typical equipment pad is placed on a concrete slab with a thickened edge measuring twice the slab thickness (2t). The equipment pad and slab feature number 4 reinforcing bars spaced at eighteen inches each way, maintaining a one-inch clearance at the top and a three-inch clearance at the bottom. The surface of the slab must be roughened if the pad is not poured monolithically with the slab. Pad dimensions and setbacks are sized per mechanical requirements.
