This cross-section details the installation of an inside guard rail adjacent to an existing running rail on a wood tie track assembly. The assembly consists of an existing 115RE rail and a new 115RE inside guard rail spaced eighteen inches apart, supported by existing wood ties. A tie plate is installed on every tie beneath the rails. The track structure rests on existing ballast, sub-ballast, and sub-grade layers.
