Typical slab-on-grade blockouts are formed around columns for edge, corner, and interior conditions in concrete construction. Typical edge of slab reinforcing is spliced at each blockout with dimensions of one and a half inches and four and a half inches typical. The blockouts are filled with concrete after the completion of elevated framing, terminating reinforcement at the blockout. Concrete extends down to the foundation as required to cover the base plate with a minimum thickness of two t, where t represents the slab thickness. Dimensions indicate a typical nine inch spacing from the face of the column or base plate to the foundation extension.
