A timber beam with a through tenon frames into a vertical timber post with a mortise pocket. Two Simpson SDWS25200DB structural wood screws secure the tenon through the face of the post. The screws are spaced at two inches from the edge, five inches on center, and two inches to the next edge. Equal spacing is maintained along the joint for uniform load transfer.
