A hollow structural section post is connected to a wide flange beam using a three-quarter-inch thick end plate. The assembly is secured with four five-eighths-inch diameter A325N bolts. The wide flange beam is reinforced at the connection point with a one-half-inch thick stiffener plate welded to the beam web on three sides with a one-quarter-inch fillet weld. The post and beam sizes are determined per the structural plans.
