An HSS post base plate connection is supported by a concrete footing. The assembly features a base plate sized per the column schedule welded to the HSS post with a three-sixteenths inch fillet weld on all sides. Two three-quarter inch diameter ASTM F1554 Grade 36 anchor rods with heavy hex nuts or rod heads secure the plate, embedded eight inches with a minimum one and a half inch rod projection. A one inch minimum nonshrink grout layer sits beneath the base plate over the finished floor or footing surface. A finished surface is provided at the column end and plate top for bearing.
