A continuous one-quarter-inch bent plate is secured to the steel beam top flange with a quarter-inch fillet weld at three inches on center and twelve inches maximum spacing. The metal roof deck bears on the steel framing adjacent to the column. The steel beam connects to the steel column with a bolted shear tab.
