A concrete slab edge bears against a structural steel column fitted with a top continuous plate. A continuous closure angle is welded to the steel column and wraps the slab edge, secured with three-sixteenths inch welds. Typical slab reinforcement includes a number four continuous bar and minimum two inch reinforcement spacing. A three-sixteenths inch weld connects the assembly with an eccentricity of less than eight inches.
