An L6x4x1/4 long-leg-horizontal kicker brace connects between an overhead metal deck assembly and a vertical hollow structural section column. The upper end of the angle is secured with two three-quarter-inch diameter expansion anchors fastened into low deck flutes. The lower end is bolted with two three-quarter-inch diameter bolts to a connection bracket, featuring a four-inch leg cope at each end. A support beam framed above the column receives full-depth one-quarter-inch stiffener plates on each side, welded on three sides and aligned with the angle. The hollow structural section column includes standard slotted holes to accommodate the connection geometry.
