An HSS post connects to an overhead beam per plan, maintaining a 1-inch minimum gap above the post. Two L8x4x1/2 angles, 0 feet 9 inches long, attach to each side of the HSS column with 1 1/2-inch vertical slotted holes typically used unless otherwise noted. Each side uses two 7/8-inch F1554 Grade 36 threaded rods tightened only finger-tight with damaged threads to allow movement. Fillet welds of 1/4 inch are applied typically as indicated.
