A hollow structural section beam frames into a hollow structural section column using top and bottom L4x4x1/4x0'-5" angles welded with quarter-inch fillet welds. A quarter-inch plate is added at exterior locations, and complete joint penetration welds are specified at similar conditions. A maximum half-inch gap is maintained between the beam end and the column face.
