A structural steel bottom flange brace connects to a steel beam with a one-half-inch by three-inch by zero-foot-three-inch plate fastened by one-inch diameter high-strength bolts at three-foot maximum spacing. An angle member measuring three by three by one-quarter inches ties back to a one-half-inch by five-inch by zero-foot-six-inch plate welded to the beam flange with typical five-sixteenths fillet welds. A full-depth one-half-inch thick stiffener plate is welded to the web of the steel beam at the moment frame. Typical five-sixteenths fillet welds join the assembly, with field welds indicated by flag symbols.
