A reinforced concrete slab bears on steel beams with steel decking spanning perpendicular to the framing members. Welded studs secure the deck and provide composite action to the supporting beams. Additional number three reinforcing bars at twelve inches on center reinforce deep beams and cantilevered slab edges up to two feet maximum. A continuous fourteen-gauge bent plate serves as the edge form with a half-inch return at the top. Cover requirements include one inch to welded wire fabric and three-quarters of an inch to reinforcing bars.
