A concrete slab depression greater than four inches occurs at a wide flange beam where metal deck flutes run parallel to the beam. A continuous angle sized L4x4x12 gauge is welded to the beam web with a one-eighth-inch fillet weld spaced at two to twelve inches. The depressed slab incorporates typical reinforcing with two number four bars continuous, featuring standard ninety-degree hooks at the depression edge. The depression depth varies over four inches, maintaining a minimum dimension of slab thickness plus one inch up to a maximum of four times the deck thickness.
