A steel column connects to a column base plate anchored by threaded anchor rods extending down into a concrete slab and underlying concrete beam. Nuts and washers secure the anchor rods at the base plate and at the embedded lower ends. The assembly bears on a concrete slab with a concrete beam located below where required by plan.
