A stair stringer connects to a wide-flange support beam carrying a concrete-filled metal deck floor assembly. The stringer utilizes an HSS12x2x3/16 minimum or C12x20.7 minimum profile, with flat plate stringers strictly prohibited, and coordinates with architectural shape and configuration requirements. A minimum 3/8-inch shear plate provided by the stair manufacturer connects the stringer to the wide-flange beam web. Minimum 3/16-inch end and cap plates are welded typically with a minimum 3/16-inch fillet weld per the stair manufacturer. Concrete-filled pan treads with a 2-inch minimum dimension are incorporated into the stair assembly.
