A wide-flange steel beam supports a concrete slab over a metal deck running parallel to the beam. Shear studs are welded through the metal deck into the top flange of the beam. The stud spacing is dimensioned with a 4 1/2-inch minimum spacing and a 24-inch maximum spacing, with a typical 1 1/2-inch offset unless noted otherwise. Additional studs are provided at the ends to meet the number required in brackets. The detail references the plan for the concrete over metal deck and the wide-flange beam alignment relative to the centerline of the girder or face of the column.
