A steel beam connects to a precast concrete wall panel using a welded shear plate and a backing plate assembly. The concrete panel features vertical reinforcement with three number six bars each face spaced at twelve inches on center and number three ties at six inches on center in the beam seat region. An eighteen by three-quarter inch by H backing plate includes nine three-quarter inch diameter welded studs with full penetration welds to the plate. A ledger occurs where specified, and the connection geometry is governed by the beam depth plus two inches.
