A spreader beam connects to an HSS structural member using quarter-inch thick steel plates welded to each side with three-sixteenth-inch fillet welds. Two three-quarter-inch diameter through-bolts pass through horizontal short slotted holes in the connection plates. A maximum one-half-inch gap is maintained between the connected members, with a one-inch maximum dimension noted at the framing condition. Top of slab elevation and beam sizes are sized per plan.
