A davit socket pedestal is welded to the top flange of a structural steel beam, which connects to a steel column. A half-inch by four-inch plate sized to the beam width plus one inch is attached to the beam flanges with one-quarter-inch fillet welds. Three-eighths-inch stiffener plates are welded to each side of the beam web and flanges. The beam web connects to the stiffener plate with a one-quarter-inch fillet weld.
