This structural steel detail shows a cantilevered beam connection over a column where the column web is perpendicular to the beam web. A one-and-a-half-inch plate connects via four three-quarter-inch diameter slip-critical bolts. Stiffener plates are aligned on both sides over the column web below, with a minimum thickness based on the column web times one and four-tenths or as required for the beam connection and a three-quarter-inch minimum. Additional stiffener plates are aligned below the beam web above, with a thickness equal to the beam web times one and four-tenths and a one-inch minimum. Fillet weld sizes are specified by plate thickness, ranging from five-sixteenths of an inch for plates under one inch up to one-half of an inch for plates over one and one-quarter inches thick.
