A steel beam frames into a wide flange column flange using a welded-bolted shear tab connection. The shear plate is shop-welded to the column flange with a size and length determined per the structural schedule, and the beam web is field-bolted to the shear plate with four fasteners spaced at three inches typical. Edge distances include three-quarters of an inch from the plate edge to the first bolt, one and a half inches typical from the beam flange to the plate edge, and a vertical clearance defined as K plus one and a half inches with a three-inch minimum. A general note directs the builder to sheet four for the top of column condition.
