A wide-flange steel beam supports a concrete slab over metal deck running parallel to the beam. Shear studs are welded to the top flange of the beam through the metal deck. Stud spacing ranges from a minimum of four and one-half inches to a maximum of twenty-four inches, with a one and one-half inch typical clearance unless noted otherwise. Additional studs are provided at the ends to meet the quantity specified in brackets.
