Unreinforced circular openings up to six inches in diameter are permitted through composite metal decks with concrete topping, subject to strict spacing and structural limitations. Concrete must be blocked out prior to pouring around penetrations. The metal deck must remain intact until the concrete achieves seventy-five percent of its design strength or fourteen days have elapsed. No more than one deck web may be cut at each hole location. Openings must maintain a clear distance of at least six times the diameter of the larger opening, and never less than twelve inches each way. Closely spaced or larger penetrations require additional deck reinforcement per separate structural details.
