Web penetrations in cold-formed steel joists and studs utilize a 54 mil thick steel plate, C-shape, or track section. The reinforcement plate attaches to the web with number 8 screws spaced at 1 inch on center, maintaining a minimum 1/2 inch edge distance. Maximum allowable hole depth is half the depth of the web; maximum hole length is the greater of 6 inches or the depth of the web. The reinforcement plate centers over the penetration to restore structural integrity to the member.
