This assembly consists of a wide flange column welded to a two and one-half inch thick base plate fabricated from 50 KSI steel. The column web is connected to the base plate with a complete joint penetration weld, while the column flanges are secured with five-sixteenths inch fillet welds. The base plate is anchored by ten two-inch diameter ASTM F1554 Grade 105 anchor bolts, which pass through three-inch diameter holes. Each anchor bolt is fitted with a one and one-half inch square plate washer with standard holes. The space between the anchor bolts and the oversized holes must be grouted prior to welding the plate washers to the base plate.
