This assembly connects a steel stair stringer to a supporting beam using a clip angle that extends past the stringer. The stringer is coped as required to accommodate the beam flange, with the cope depth maintained at less than or equal to the beam depth dimension dc. A complete joint penetration weld with backgouge is specified at the stringer-to-beam interface. The connection maintains a minimum 6-inch clearance from the beam centerline to the work point. The stair tread is positioned relative to the nosing line, with the top of the flooring aligned to the work point.
