A wide flange column connects to a one-and-a-quarter-inch thick base plate, which rests over a one-and-a-half-inch flowable non-shrink grout pad. The column flanges are secured with three-eighths-inch fillet welds, left unwelded for a distance of one-half inch typical and between the 'k' regions. Two two-inch diameter air holes are provided in the base plate. Four one-and-one-sixteenth-inch diameter holes accommodate three-quarter-inch diameter by one-foot-six-inch ASTM F1554 Grade 36 anchor rods with double nuts and six-inch projection. ASTM F844 washers are installed both above and below the base plate.
