Two steel beams connect end-to-end via a bearing plate centered on the beam and secured with two three-quarter-inch A307 through-bolts in horizontal short slotted holes. A three-eighth-inch by five-inch plate matching the beam depth plus one-half inch spans the top and bottom flanges with fillet welds. A one-half-inch by one-inch bearing plate centered on the steel beam accommodates movement. All structural steel components are galvanized.
