A C12x25 channel connects to the top of a three-eighths-inch thick cap plate welded to an HSS 6x6x3/8 post. A one-quarter-inch fillet weld secures the channel to the top of the cap plate. Similar three-eighths-inch thick cap plates are detailed typically at the top and bottom of the HSS post.
