An air duct is supported below new metal joists using a trapeze assembly formed by a Unistrut P1000 HS channel spaced at a maximum of 4 feet on center. Half-inch diameter threaded rods connect each end of the Unistrut to solid joist blocking placed at a maximum of 8 feet on center. Twelve-gauge splay wires are attached to each Unistrut and connected to the existing 2x purlin above for lateral stability. The solid joist blocking features cut flanges with bent webs connected to the joists using four number 10 sheet metal screws.
