A four-times nominal wood nailer matches the beam flange width and connects with seven-eighths-inch diameter welded threaded rods at sixteen inches on-center staggered on the beam, countersunk to a maximum of three-quarters of an inch. One rod is placed a maximum of nine inches from each end of the nailer and from each splice. Sub-purlins are sized per plan and spaced eight and one-half inches plus or minus from the steel beam. A nailer plan view includes two rows at bolt spacing, utilizing four lines where bolt spacing is staggered and six lines where three lines of nailing are required. A five-inch diameter maximum hole for pipes is provided at ten feet on-center minimum if required per approved sprinkler drawings, maintaining a two and one-half inch minimum typically. A three-times nailer is specified per detail twenty-two A.
