A concrete slab of thickness T is placed over a fifteen-mil Stego Wrap vapor barrier and a twelve-inch minimum low-expansion zone compacted to ninety-five percent. Reinforcement placement within the slab requires a clear cover of T divided by five plus one and one-quarter inches. A control joint is formed using an one-eighth-inch wide flexible thin blade sawcut to a depth of T divided by five plus or minus one-quarter inch, ensuring the cut avoids the reinforcing steel. The sawcut is subsequently filled with joint filler when specified by the architect of record.
