Steel beams or open-web steel joists frame into the flanges and web of a structural steel column. Half-inch thick connection plates extend eight inches beyond the column face, welded with quarter-inch fillet welds. A half-inch radius minimum is detailed typically at the plate corners. A note references detail 10 on sheet S5.11 where a steel joist frames into the column.
