The concrete slab on grade bears on the concrete foundation wall with continuous top and bottom reinforcing steel extending down into the footing. The cold joint between the slab haunch and the wall is specified with a roughened surface to one-quarter-inch amplitude for shear transfer. Vertical and horizontal wall reinforcing bars are placed continuously within the wall stem. An exterior slab or grade sits adjacent to the foundation wall below the slab haunch. The exterior wall system above is coordinated per architectural drawings.
