The connection assembly features wide-flange steel beams framing into a structural steel column with both column web parallel and column web perpendicular orientations. Continuity plates match or exceed the largest beam flange thickness at each side of the column web. Shear tab plates are provided to match or exceed the largest beam web thickness, secured with two three-quarter inch diameter erection bolts and backing plates per schedule 22/S5.0.1. Complete joint penetration welds with double bevel groove welds are specified at the top and bottom flanges along with five-sixteenth inch fillet welds. Additional drag connections are detailed per plan with a one-inch cope where indicated.
