A continuous wide-flange beam bears upon a hollow structural section column sized per plan, featuring an angle seat connection with L8x4x1/2 angles located at each side. The HSS column is fitted with L9x4x1/2 long-leg-vertical angles on each side containing two 1-1/2-inch vertical short-slot holes, secured by two 3/4-inch diameter ASTM A325 bolts positioned at the bottom of the vertical slots typically. A 1/4-inch shim space is detailed beneath the connection, along with a 1-inch clearance space between structural elements. Three-eighths-inch stiffener plates are welded to both sides of the beam web using three-side 3/16-inch fillet welds, while five-sixteenths-inch typical fillet welds secure the seat assembly. Sections A-A and B-B illustrate the offset geometry and bolt spacing dimensions.
