A hollow structural section column intersects a structural steel wide-flange beam supporting a metal deck and concrete fill. The structural steel beam carries three half-inch diameter Nelson deformed bar anchors spaced at four inches on center over a three-foot length. A three-eighths-inch thick angle one foot long is centered on the HSS horizontally, welded with a five-sixteenths fillet weld four inches long. Angle sections measuring six by one-half by three-eighths inches are placed on each side of the HSS vertically and secured with three-quarter-inch diameter through bolts centered in two-inch long vertical slotted holes. A closure plate sized per plan seals the assembly with a quarter-inch fillet weld, and a manufacturer-specified guide rail is positioned nearby.
