A structural handrail and stringer assembly connects to hollow structural section posts measuring 4 inches by 4 inches by 1/4 inch. A typical stringer is supported by a 1/2-inch thick bearing plate secured with two 3/4-inch diameter machine bolts, supplemented by an HSS 2-inch by 2-inch by 3/16-inch brace where required. Connections are welded using 3/16-inch fillet welds. Stiffener plates measuring 3/8 inch thick are welded to the stringer assembly at specified intervals.
