A non-frame pipe column or hollow structural section tube is welded to a square steel base plate resting on three inches of non-shrink grout above the concrete footing. Four anchor bolts with double nuts and hardened washers secure the base plate, featuring half-inch by four-inch square plate washers at their embedded lower ends. A grout hole matching the anchor bolt hole size is provided on the base plate per American Welding Society standards. The concrete footing incorporates a minimum of three number four ties spaced at six inches.
