An eight-inch thick concrete stem wall bears on a two-foot wide by one-foot deep concrete footing with three-inch clear cover typically. Number 5 vertical reinforcing bars are placed at twelve inches on center centered within the wall, extending down and hooking into the footing. The footing contains three minimum number 5 horizontal reinforcing bars running longitudinally. Site paving and finish grade intersect the wall at specified elevations relative to the footing.
