A moment connection joins steel beams to a hollow structural section column using Grade 50 top and bottom flange plates welded with partial joint penetration welds. The beam webs connect to the column via shear tabs utilizing standard bolted beam connections. All welding must conform to AWS D1.8 standards where members are designated as part of a seismic force-resisting system on plan.
