Wide-flange beams bear on a hollow structural section column capped with a three-quarter-inch shaped plate welded with five-sixteenth-inch fillets. The beams connect back-to-back across the column centerline using a three-eighth-inch plate fastened with five three-quarter-inch-diameter ASTM A325N bolts per side. Additional three-quarter-inch by eight-inch plates weld to the top flanges with quarter-inch fillets typical on each side, while beam webs receive five-sixteenth-inch welds at twelve-inch spacings. The canopy beams slope relative to architectural requirements.
