Typical concrete masonry unit bond beam reinforcing requirements are arranged with a center line wall layout. The reinforcing bar lap splice requires a development length of Lcmu plus an end development length Le. The 180-degree hook detail specifies a bend diameter D with a tail length of four times the bar diameter, or a two-and-one-half-inch minimum. Vertical reinforcing bars are placed per the CMU non-load bearing wall reinforcing schedule.
