A concrete slab on steel deck bears directly over the top of an existing concrete shear wall and a steel beam. Epoxy dowels per shear wall elevation tie the new overlay into the existing concrete shear wall. Number 5 U-bars match and lap with the vertical reinforcement in the concrete shear wall overlay at a typical maximum spacing of two feet. The concrete shear wall overlay finishes flush with the top of the slab.
