An HSS 4x4x1/4 column bears on a larger HSS 6x6x1/4 tube equipped with a top closure plate welded with a 3/16-inch fillet weld. The lower HSS tube extends down through a concrete floor slab into a 24-inch square or diameter concrete footing and pier with a depth of 4 feet below the slab. The column is anchored inside the concrete pier using four 1/2-inch diameter by 4-inch long welded studs welded to the tube. An adjacent partial detail shows an embedded angle 4x4x3/8 by 6 feet long with 3/4-inch diameter by 6-inch long anchor bolts welded on a 12-inch center.
