A reinforced concrete driveway slab bears adjacent to a concrete grade beam supported by a concrete drilled pier. The cold joint between the grade beam and the pier incorporates a 4-inch by 4-inch by 2-inch shear key. Slab rebar is placed per plan within the concrete elements. A joint sealant is provided at the interface between the driveway slab and the grade beam assembly.
