A horizontal construction joint occurs in a reinforced concrete wall between a first and second concrete pour. The joint interface features a roughened surface with a one-quarter-inch minimum amplitude and a continuous edge notch to ensure shear transfer. A continuous two-by-four wood strip is positioned at the form line and must be removed before placing the second pour. Form ties span across the wall assembly between formwork panels on both exposed faces. Reinforcing steel continues through the joint continuously.
